Outreach

In the region surrounding the Northern Jaguar Reserve, fostering community support with our neighbors and building up social tolerance to ensure the long-term survival of wildlife is vital. NJP is working to create an appreciation for the local environment among area youth through environmental education initiatives. We are simultaneously encouraging rural landowners to shoot cats with cameras, not guns. Our attempts to incorporate the ranching community into conservation efforts will ultimately promote a better understanding of wildlife and should measure a positive shift in local attitudes toward jaguars and conservation.
